Playa Acapulquito or "Old Man's Beach"
"Old Man's" is a world famous surf break that is inviting for beginners and pros alike. Located right in front of Las Olas Condominiums and the Palmilla, this wave is every surfers dream: an open faced, glassy wave that peels and keeps on peeling for hundreds of yards! It is a wide open canvas and is the gift that just keeps on giving. If you don't know how to surf and want to learn, this is definitely the place to be. Very forgiving wave with a lot less rocks to have to surf around compared to more difficult waves nearby. La Roca or "The Rock"
The Rock is an intermediate to pro level wave, located directly in front of Las Olas Condominiums. It is a fast paced wave where you need to make sections in order to ride it all the way to the beach. There are a few rocks that you have to maneuver around, which is why beginners are more safe at Old Man’s or Middle’s which are only a 50 yard paddle away in either direction. La Roca is known for its consistent, warm waves and is a perfect right peeling reef break. The crystal clear blue-green water is one of a kind, ample with tropical sea life and coral reefs.
"Zippers"
Zippers is a more advanced reef surf break that is mostly ridden by San Jose's locals and professionals alike. Located feet away from Las Olas Condominiums, Zipper's is a legendary break where surfing competitions are held. If you are looking to sit back, relax, and watch the pros, enjoy lunch and a cold beverage at Zipper’s Bar and Grill which is right in front of the famous surf break on the beach. Surfers from all over the world come to enjoy this amazing right peeling wave and it is a beautiful sight to see when a surfer getting barreled!
"Middles"
Middles is another beginner wave right in front of Las Olas Condominiums. Located in between Zipper's and The Rock, this wave is a perfect place for beginners to practice shredding the gnar. The positives of this wave is that it is an easy paddle out, there are less rocks to be mindful of, and people of all levels can have a blast surfing this wave. It is a much more forgiving wave and even if you fall, there is less of a payment plan compared to the more advanced waves nearby. Even if you don't want to surf, there is amazing stand-up paddle boarding and snorkeling in this area right in front of the condos.
