A Guide to the San Jose del Cabo Organic Farmers Market
A Saturday Tradition: The San Jose del Cabo Organic Farmers Market
If you want to experience the true heart of the San Jose del Cabo community, you have to spend a Saturday morning at the Organic Farmers Market. It’s a vibrant, weekly celebration of local food, art, and music, and it’s one of our favorite things to do in town.
What is the Farmers Market?
Started over a decade ago, the market is a place for local farmers, artisans, and chefs to sell their goods directly to the public. It’s a hub for the local and expat community, and a wonderful, authentic experience for visitors.
- When: Every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Season: November through May.
- Where: Located at the Huerta Maria in a beautiful palm grove just outside of downtown.
The Vibe
The atmosphere is bohemian, family-friendly, and very relaxed. Live music plays from a central stage, children run around in the grass, and people gather at communal tables to eat and chat. It’s a world away from the touristy hustle and bustle.
What You’ll Find
- Organic Produce: Local farmers sell a beautiful array of fresh, organic vegetables, herbs, and fruits.
- Prepared Food: This is the main reason many people go. You can find everything from wood-fired pizzas and authentic tacos to fresh-squeezed juices, vegan treats, and delicious pastries. It’s a perfect spot for lunch.
- Local Crafts: Artisans sell handmade jewelry, clothing, pottery, and art. It’s a great place to find a unique, locally-made souvenir.
- Live Music: Local bands play throughout the day, creating a festive soundtrack for your browsing and eating.
Tips for Your Visit
- Go for Lunch: Plan to have lunch at the market. The variety and quality of the food stalls are incredible.
- Bring Cash: While some vendors may accept credit cards, many are cash-only. Bring plenty of pesos.
- Take a Reusable Bag: If you plan on buying produce or crafts, a reusable shopping bag is a good idea.
- Parking: Parking can be tight. You may have to park on a side street and walk a bit, but it’s worth it.

Is it easy to get to?
Yes, it’s a short taxi or Uber ride from the hotel zone or downtown San Jose del Cabo. Just ask the driver to take you to the "Mercado Orgánico."
