The Essential Cabo Packing List

Packing for your Baja vacation should be exciting, not stressful. The vibe in San Jose del Cabo is generally relaxed and casual. Here’s a guide to what you’ll actually need, and what you can leave at home.

The Absolute Essentials

  • Passport: You can't get in without it! Check your expiration date now.
  • Credit/Debit Cards: Bring at least two options. Choose cards with no foreign transaction fees. Notify your bank of your travel dates.
  • Driver's License: If you plan on renting a car.
  • Confirmation Documents: Have your flight, condo, and shuttle confirmations saved to your phone.

Clothing: Casual is Key

Think "resort casual." Lightweight, breathable fabrics are your best friend.

  • Swimsuits (2-3): You'll live in them. Bring more than one so you always have a dry one.
  • Cover-Ups: A sarong, kaftan, or simple sundress is perfect for walking to and from the pool or beach.
  • Shorts & T-Shirts/Tops: For daytime exploring and casual meals.
  • Sundresses/Maxi Dresses: For a slightly more dressed-up dinner or the Art Walk.
  • Lightweight Pants (Linen or Cotton): Great for evenings, which can sometimes be breezy.
  • A Light Jacket or Sweater: Essential for evenings, especially during the winter months (Dec-Mar). Restaurants on the beach can get cool once the sun goes down.

Footwear

  • Flip-Flops or Sandals: For the beach and pool.
  • Comfortable Walking Shoes or Espadrilles: For exploring the Art District's cobblestone streets.
  • Wedge or Dressy Sandal: If you plan on a fancy dinner out. Leave the stilettos at home; they don't mix well with cobblestones and sand.

Sun Protection (Non-Negotiable)

The Baja sun is no joke. This is the most important part of your packing list.

  • Reef-Safe Sunscreen: Protect your skin and the delicate marine ecosystem.
  • Wide-Brimmed Hat: A baseball cap is good, but a wide-brimmed hat is better for protecting your face and neck.
  • Sunglasses: Polarized lenses are great for cutting the glare off the water.
  • Rash Guard or Sun Shirt: The best sun protection for a long day of snorkeling or surfing.

Miscellaneous

  • Reusable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated and reduce plastic waste.
  • Beach Bag: To carry your essentials to the pool or beach.
  • Basic Medications: Pain reliever, stomach remedies, and any personal prescriptions.
  • Binoculars: If you're visiting during whale season (Dec-Apr), you'll be glad you have them.

What to Leave at Home

  • Heavy Jackets or Jeans: You won't need them.
  • Expensive Jewelry: It's best to leave valuable items at home.
  • Beach Towels: All our condos are fully stocked with both bath and beach towels.

Packing light and smart is the first step to a relaxing vacation. As Your Trusted Friends in Baja, we make sure our condos are equipped with many of the essentials, so you can focus on the fun. We can't wait to welcome you!
